Frequently asked questions about frozen fruit

What is IQF?

IQF, or Individual Quick Freezing, is a state-of-the-art freezing technique that has revolutionised fruit preservation. Unlike traditional methods, where food is frozen in larger batches, IQF involves rapidly freezing each piece individually. This flash-freezing process locks in the natural flavours and nutrients, preserving the peak ripeness of produce and offering consumers a taste of freshness and natural sweetness at any time of the year.

Is frozen fruit as healthy as fresh fruit?

Yes, frozen fruit is just as healthy as fresh fruit. Our fruit is picked at peak ripeness, and immediately frozen after harvest, which helps preserve its nutrients.

How do I defrost frozen fruit?

Frozen fruit can be thawed by leaving it in the fridge overnight, or you can use the microwave to quickly defrost it.

Does frozen fruit need to be washed?

Why is my smoothie too thick?

A smoothie becomes too thick when there is not enough liquid or when the blender struggles with dense or fully frozen fruit. To fix this, add 20–50 ml more liquid until you reach the desired viscosity. You can also pulse the mixture 2–3 times before running the full blend cycle or let the smoothie bag sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes to soften the fruit slightly.
Why is my smoothie too thin or watery?

A smoothie turns out too thin when too much liquid is added, when low‑viscosity liquids like water or tea are used, or when it is over‑blended. Start with 250 ml of your chosen mixer and only add more as needed. For a thicker texture, switch to high‑viscosity liquids such as oat milk, and reduce blending time by using a shorter cycle on medium speed.
Why does my smoothie separate after pouring?

Separation occurs when the smoothie is under‑blended, when the liquid ratio is incorrect, or when warm liquids are used. Blend longer at a high enough speed to create uniform emulsification, and begin with 250 ml of liquid before adjusting. Always use chilled liquids and serve immediately, keeping a straw nearby for stirring if needed.
Why is my smoothie foamy?

Excessive foam forms when the smoothie is over‑blended or when aerating liquids such as coconut milk or barista‑style milks are used. Reduce blending time to 20–30 seconds if you are using a high‑power machine. For smoother results, choose non‑foaming alternatives like juice, water, or standard oat milk.
Why is my blender struggling, jamming, or stalling?

A blender struggles when there is not enough liquid or when dense fruit pieces get stuck under the blades. Always use 250 ml of liquid per 150 g of frozen fruit and add an extra 20–40 ml if blending remains difficult. Pulse 2–3 times before running the full cycle, and only use blender‑approved tamper tools—never utensils or hands.
Why does my smoothie melt fast?

A smoothie melts quickly when warm liquids are used, when the environment is hot, or when the blend is not fully emulsified. Use cold liquids only, chill serving cups when possible, and blend long enough to achieve a fully emulsified texture.
Why is my protein smoothie grainy or sandy?

A smoothie becomes grainy or sandy when small particles remain after blending or when the final texture lacks smoothness. This usually happens due to insufficient blending time, not enough blending power, or too little liquid. Always blend for 30–45 seconds on high speed. You could also allow the smoothie bag to thaw for 5 minutes to soften the fruit, and increase your liquid by 20–40 ml when using thick bases such as oat or coconut milk.
Why are smoothie results inconsistent across different foodservice locations?

Variations occur when different blender types, liquid bases, or measurement habits are used. To ensure consistency, provide the same professional blender model at each location, introduce a clear standard operating procedure (SOP), and use containers with printed fill lines. Training staff to follow exact measurements ensures uniform results.
